In a meditation on a flight to Necker island…

The Highly Unlikely Way I Came Out of “Retirement” to Help Co-Create More Communities

Sometimes things just seem to happen out of left-field to tap you on the shoulder and get your attention…

You see, organically and without even seeking it, I’ve had people from my past approach me and ask for deep-dives and some undivided help creating their own communities, groups or networks. I charge (and get) $10,000.00 for a day together but I don’t do very many of these since it doesn’t scale and it takes up a large block of time. But this recent time I said yes and I realized something…I figured out I actually really like that kind of work because you get to circle an idea from all different angles before the real breakthrough comes together.

And the energy when that BIG idea hits is electric!

Plus, I get really charged up aligning it all with Evolved Enterprise principles for the massive amount of impact these concepts can have.

So now I’ve been intrigued enough to do a little more of this for the right group of entrepreneurs, but in a totally different way.

Because of the prominence of Maverick and my prior communities, I cannot even tell you how many groups have been influenced directly or indirectly by what we’ve done for 12+ years.

The 1,000 Suns Already Lit...

Many years ago, I was talking to a member of my Maverick1000 community, who was doing really, really well selling on Amazon….

But he wasn’t sure what to do next or how to leverage it…

Immediately, I said you should help others succeed selling on Amazon.

Long story short…

He met a business partner in Maverick and together they went on to become Amazing.com, a membership community that helps people build successful e-commerce businesses to ultimately achieve financial freedom.

And today not only have they lit 1,000 Suns... but way beyond that!

But I wish I knew what I know now because beyond just the how-to for creating a successful business, there’s an opportunity to create even greater impact in every business venture.

Imagine if all these eCommerce brands were shown how to create an impact “baked” into their company!

For example, it could be a partnership with a non-profit connected to their e-commerce products, or it could be investing in fair labor practices in their supply chain, or eco-friendly packaging, etc. You get the picture.

Starting from the original business idea, those 1000+ customers AKA “ Suns” could have an even bigger and bigger ripple of impact.

And that’s what I plan to “fix”...

Here’s another example from a Maverick member...

Nayia Pierrakos, has tremendous success in the real estate space herself and was also coaching for a “guru” trainer. She didn’t find that fulfilling and value-aligned. Then across our work together we mapped how she wanted 1,000 “Grateful Families” as her 1,000 suns!

That was the breakthrough!

These 1,000 Grateful families would follow Nayia’s tactics of successful real estate investing to create ultimate wealth but that wasn’t the end of it. She also is sharing deeper transformative work and layers of built-in impact inside their own neighborhoods and through their investing. It’s by merging all these areas the real legacy of creating grateful families, ignites them as “suns.”

Some of this has been from my own experience across different groups I’ve created or consulted on but in other ways it was from my deep thinking on how to bring together entrepreneurs and leaders to help all of us grow and make a greater ripple of impact in the world.

Talking to another friend of mine, let’s call her “Michelle,” and she runs a group of female business leaders and freelancers.

Well, within a 45-minute call I had jumped in with several tweaks and one big reinvention point that could help her truly fulfill her mission she’s meant to be doing in the world. She’s been teetering on burnout because she left a lucrative career to follow this calling but it’s been a bit unsteady. Michelle knows her cause deeply in her heart but was missing a few of the puzzle pieces to make the community model actually work financially.

And just today I was speaking to “Steve,” who helps his entrepreneurial clients with a certain kind of business building. He was explaining that after he teaches them his one ‘magic trick’ they don’t need him anymore. Plus, each offering would have a custom impact component to it as well making it even more attractive to partners. In a split second this went from a transactional company where the client is just a one-time transaction to an ongoing transformational alliance with even greater meaning (and profits).

Or take my friend “Nick,” he does a very high-end service for C-level clients and has always wanted to create a community but he’s been spinning his wheels. He tried a couple things before but it never stuck. He knows the benefit because when he speaks in front of an intentionally curated community, he has a significantly higher closing percentage. Significant. So the idea is what if he created his own perfect C-level community?

In fact, all types of agencies, consultants, coaches or service providers could consider this strategy. We got together and mapped out the categories for each member and how by becoming part of this network his existing (and dream) clients would create even bigger positive outcomes than they could on their own. This group of CEOs wouldn’t just create more direct deals for him but there would be tremendous byproducts and other impactful opportunities. As Nick told me, “I don’t want to get into the event business but I know communities can create tremendous opportunity and impact.”

Maverick member Christopher Bennett, successfully exited his company and now his 1000 suns will be partners grown through the enterprises he invests in and mentors.
